Voter Eligibility
To vote on the School Budget and for Candidates to the Board of Education you must be:
18 years of age or older;
a citizen of the United States; and
a resident of the Port Washington School District for at least 30 days before May 19, 2009.
You need only to meet the above criteria...you do NOT need to be a property owner to vote in a school budget election.
There is usually more than 1 eligible voter in every household - both spouses and children 18 years of age or older can, and should, exercise their right to vote!
Voter Registration
If an individual is already registered with the County Board of Elections, they are already registered for the School Vote.
If you have moved or have not voted in a national or school budget election within the last four years, you have two options in order to register to vote.
Voter Registration by Mail
You may register through the Nassau County Board of Elections.
Visit the Board of Elections Web site for additional information and to download the voter registration application.

"Personal" Voter Registration
In person registration can also take place at the Port Washington School District Business Office located at 100 Campus Drive, on school days from 8 A.M. to 4 P.M. (except 12:30 P.M.-1:30 P.M., when the office closes for lunch) until May 14, 2009. Because this is “personal” registration, you cannot register for another person.
In order to assure that your registration is included in the documents provided by the Board of Elections, please register as soon as possible and in no case can we accept registration beyond five days before the election. This year the deadline would be May 14, 2009.
Keep in mind, you must be 18 years of age, a citizen of the United States and a resident of Port Washington for at least 30 days prior to the date of the election.
